Sometimes the weather in winter makes it hard to get around the way you want. Instead of letting the cold or rain keep you from getting some exercise, try these indoor workouts. You don’t need equipment, just some floor space, and a little willpower.
Jump Rope
It's not just a fun game for kids. You can burn some serious calories and get your heart rate pumping. All you need is a jump rope and some stamina. Start with classic skipping rope for about one minute.
Be careful! You’ll be surprised at how quickly you can tire, especially if you’re not in the best shape right now. Try increasing the number you do as you get used to the moment. Start doing single hops to increase your effort and improve your conditioning even more.
Planks
This is an outstanding exercise for anyone looking to seriously build up their core strength. Planks allow you to work out a lot of important muscles in your body that you might normally ignore. You don’t have to go big right away. Start with 10 seconds, gradually increasing your hold time. Make things more intense by adding an exercise ball into the mix for balancing.
Lunges
Lunges are one of the easiest ways to work out your leg muscles. You can do them anywhere in the house, even while watching TV. Try doing them in all directions (front, back, side) to make sure you hit every muscle in your leg.
Jumping Jacks
Don’t think of them as the thing your gym coach used to make you miserable back in school. They’re a great option when you want to get in a good cardio workout on the fly. This is also another exercise you can squeeze in while doing a winter TV show binge.
Don’t let the winter cold stop you from getting your daily exercise! Looking for apartments in Denver, Colorado? Contact us to schedule a tour today.
