Apartment Living
If you’ve recently moved into our apartments in Denver, you’ve probably been enjoying everything the area has to offer. With its backdrop of the Front Range of the majestic Rocky Mountains, Denver is magical all year round, but the holiday season is super special. If you’re thinking of hosting a New Year’s Eve party at your apartment in order to enhance your personal seasonal experience and to pay friends and loved ones back for their holiday hospitality, you may be a bit apprehensive if you’ve never thrown a New Year’s Eve bash before.

Fortunately, strategies exist to help fledgling party hosts throw a bash like a professional. Following are five of them.

SERVE FINGER FOOD
This makes it easier for everyone involved—you’ll have less clean up after the party’s over, and your guests won’t have to worry about handling plates, forks, and knives in a crowded environment. Setting up a food station for hors d’oeurves and restocking it several times throughout the course of the night allows guests to graze at their leisure.

DON’T SKIMP ON BALLOONS
Filling your apartment with as many balloons as possible creates an instantly festive atmosphere. Buy armloads of helium balloons and cover your ceiling with them to conjure up a super stylish ambiance. Finish off the look by dimming the lights and scattering votive candles on stable tabletops around the room.

SET UP INDIVIDUAL BAR CARTS
Setting up several individual bar carts allows you to enjoy your own festivities rather than acting as bartender all night. Keep it simple with an abundance of Champagne, a few basic liquors and mixers, and a small selection of soft drinks, juices, and bottled water for the designated drivers or nondrinkers on your guest list.

STOCK UP ON PARTY SUPPLIES
Few things fall flat faster than a New Year’s Eve party where the host has run out of essential supplies such as Champagne and finger foods. It’s better to overestimate what you’ll need than to run out, so buy enough that you’ve got some in reserve in case supplies run low.
