Keeping your closet clean can be a challenge. By following these 3 tips, we feel that residents of apartments in Denver, Colorado, will find it much easier to whip their closets into shape!

Get everything out of the closet.

Take everything out at once. That way, you do not end up with odd items still crammed into random corners. Start asking the hard questions once you have everything in front of you.

When was the last time I wore this?

How often do I wear this color?

Do I still need these shoes given my current lifestyle?

Most people do not wear 80% of what is in their closet. We tend to default to old favorites or the sparkly new thing we want to show off. Anything you have not worn in at least a year should be donated to a charity that can pass your clothing on to someone in need.

Work in hour-long increments.

It helps to break the work down in time increments. That prevents you from getting overwhelmed by the task in front of you. You can work on organizing your shoes for one hour. The next can be devoted to blouses and sweaters, with pants and accessories taking up a third.

You can use shorter increments if that works better for your schedule. The idea is to keep you on track and motivated. Grinding away for two or three hours leaves you prone to just chucking everything back inside and calling it a day.

Use the in-out rule going forward.

We know you do not want to go through another major closet decluttering anytime soon. Following the "in-out" rule helps keep your wardrobe relatively organized. Do not allow yourself to put something new in your closet without removing an old item. Make sure you stick to this rule for even seemingly small things like a new belt or scarf. These are items that tend to cause a lot of the clutter in our closets.

Plenty of the things found in the kitchens of our Denver, Colorado, apartments also serve additional purposes — some of which may surprise you! With this in mind, let's take a look at some common kitchen ingredients that do double duty.

Uncooked Spaghetti

Do you know how those tiny plastic toothpicks that keep the cheese on your pizza from sticking to the top of the box? That's what spaghetti can do for your baked goods! Cakes, muffins, and other items that incorporate icing have a tendency to travel poorly because they squish against the boxes or plastic wrap meant to keep them safe.

By sticking some dry spaghetti strands on the tops and sides of your pastries, you can keep your icing looking awesome until it's time for your guests to dive in.

Egg Slicers

Ever wonder how bakers get their strawberries to be so perfectly sliced?

Here's a secret: many of them cheat by using egg slicers! These handy little gadgets are sharp and evenly spaced, enabling professional and amateur chefs alike to top off their homemade goods with impeccable style.

Ice Cube Trays

Do you find yourself tossing leftover broth, salsa, and other liquids? When you only have a small bit left in that jar, you might be tempted to toss the leftovers, but ice cube trays can accommodate your lack of storage! You can easily create your own bouillon cubes by freezing the last bits of broth to use for future meals.

Muffin Tins

Picnic season isn't far away! Keep your condiments in order by placing them into muffin tins for easy access to designated for condiments.

Kitchens in The Apartments at Denver Place offer ample storage space and plenty of reasons to get a little creative with the ingredients you keep in your cabinets. Browse our community's gallery today!

If you’re ever one of the millions of Americans who just need more storage, here are some easy tricks that can get you there!

Raise the bed

It’s the oldest and best trick in the book. Get the bed a little higher off the ground, and you suddenly have a huge storage space that is perfect for things you don’t need every day but definitely want at hand. Seasonal decorations or clothes, exercise equipment, and a fireproof safe all go great down there. The best part is that you wouldn't need a new bed frame! Bed risers are a cheap, durable and perfect option for freeing up some space.

Use those little spaces

Small spaces exist everywhere in your apartment, and there are organizers designed specifically for them. Is there a gap between your washer and dryer? You can fill it with a mobile rack that holds detergent and dryer sheets. The gap between your fridge and the counter can also easily hold a vertical organizer for your dry storage. Little hacks like this can definitely help make your apartment feel like a mansion!

Put furniture to work

If you’ve ever browsed an Ikea, you know there’s plenty of furniture that doubles as storage space. You don’t have to stick to a particular brand; this stuff is everywhere. The key is to use it. A coffee table that can also hold books and games is invaluable. A couch that includes a compartment for linens and pillows is golden. If you’re living in an apartment, your furnishings should have goals!

If you’re browsing apartments in Denver, take a look at our spacious floor plans. Give us a call to schedule your tour today!

The Apartments at Denver Place Renovated KitchenEven the biggest, most versatile kitchen spaces can benefit from ingenious kitchen hacks that free up more space and make kitchen life more efficient. When you look around your kitchen, it is important to note areas that could be improved to streamline your day-to-day tasks. In most kitchens, areas in need of a little extra support include the spice shelves, cleaning cabinets and pantry. Here’s how you can handle these three areas in your apartment in Denver.

Spice Magnets

With just a glue gun and a few supplies, you can transform ordinary jars into spice magnets. To create these fun and accessible containers, simply apply a strong magnet to the bottom of a small jar using hot glue. Allow to cool, and then fill with your favorite herbs and spices and screw the cap on. Use a permanent marker to write the names of the herbs and spices on each container before sticking to the side of your fridge.

Tension Rod Across the Cabinet in Your Denver Apartment

Cluttered cleaning cabinets make it impossible to see what is going on under there. You may lose cleaning products or simply forget things exist. You can keep your cleaners front and center by installing a tension curtain rod across the cabinet. With the rod firmly in place, you can place cleaner products across the bar using the triggers to hold them steady. Whenever you need to clean something in your Denver apartment, you can quickly grab a cleaning product from where it is hung.

Rollout Pantry

A rollout pantry is an easy way to take full advantage of the space beside your fridge. You can find a thin shelf that will fit between your fridge and the wall at a thrift store or online, and then transform it using ordinary wheels. Consider painting the rollout pantry colors that complement or contrast your interior design to perfect your new kitchen element.
